In 1999, María José Calabria from La Mancha and Alberto Serrano from Mallorca crossed paths when they met at the Lasarte restaurant, she as pastry chef and he in the fish department.
María José studied hospitality at the Fuenllana school in Madrid, having her first professional experience at the Guisando restaurant, and then making the leap to the Temple of the Spoon with Ramón Ramírez. He passed through La Paloma, specializing in game cuisine under Segundo Alonso. Later, he learned from the great teacher Martín Berasategui in Lasarte, an experience that opened the doors of El Obrador del Café de Oriente. The next culinary stop would allow you to touch the heaven of raw materials in Santceloni de Santi Santamaría. Once again, the specialty of hunting crossed his life at the La Torcaz restaurant in Segundo Alonso.
Once in Mallorca, Alberto and María José cooked at Es Porxo, but not before passing through Galopín, Guisando and Goizeko in Madrid.
In 2007 they founded Casa Maruka and since then they delight their clients with a fusion of tradition and modernity worthy of the most demanding palates.
